Join us as a Peer Mentor for The Young Parent Project! Peer Mentors play a vital role in mentoring young parents, offering optional support and guidance tailored to their needs. By sharing your own lived experiences, you will inspire and empower young parents to reach their self-defined goals. Working closely with our team, you will help connect them to essential resources and services while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.

About you:

We are seeking a people person who: 

  • Has lived experience of parenting under the age of 25 while navigating stresses such as:
    • stresses that made it difficult to parent in a safe, secure, and nurturing way
    • financial hardship and insecure housing
    • seeking and/or receiving help from child protection and family support services
    • limited family and social supports
    • experience of co-parenting, single parenting, or relationship difficulties
  • Possesses knowledge of community resources and support services for young parents
  • Has empathy, compassion, and a non-judgmental attitude
  • Has good communication skills, including the ability to actively listen to young parents 
  • A driver’s licence or confidence in using public transport is desired

You Will Need To:  

  • Complete our online application process
  • Hold or be willing to obtain a current Working with Children Check
  • Hold or be willing to obtain a National Police Clearance   
  • Hold or be willing to obtain a current Child Safe Environments Certificate
  • Undergo pre-employment testing as part of the recruitment process
